Vengeance: Another Short Story

STORIES

“DID YOU TELL HIM WE F*CKED RAW?!”

These were the words that sent me into the abyss — or should I say “to another planet.”

I was in a daze listening to this sensitive ass negro go on, yelling at me as if scolding me would change the reality: I had flipped the script.

And what about it? It’s not like he gave a damn anyway.

“DID YOU TELL HIM WE F*CKED RAW?!”

All of this because I went on a little date with some guy I met on the train.

It’s not like I wanted him.

I mean maybe I could have been interested, but after losing count of the days unappreciated, I really just wanted to remember how it felt to be desired again.

Plus, I couldn’t even look in his face without wanting to slap him. I really thank God I ain’t get that tattoo, or whatever Trina said.

It’s like they treat you bad, and you let them. Then one day, you say fuck it and just do your own thing.

Next thing you know, they’re losing it.

That’s men for you.

Motherfuckers.

I wish I could say I was sorry, but I wasn’t.

I took pleasure in hearing those words leave his mouth.

“DID YOU TELL HIM WE F*CKED RAW?!”

“DID YOU TELL HIM WE F*CKED RAW?!”

Like that meant something to him…

In that moment, I knew it did.

I knew I did.

…mean something to him, that is.

That’s all I really wanted.
